After BGS I went to Loughborough Uni to study Librarianship & English. I was Assistant Librarian at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists then Librarian at Greenwich Hospital. I met another ex BGS pupil Valerie Mills (from the 1960s) who was Librarian at Queen Mary's , Sidcup. I then worked in stock management in Greenwich libraries where I met another ex pupil Paul Clarke (1960s/70s) and worked with the mum of two other pupils Ben and Ella Williams (2000s)
I escaped in 2010 and now spend my time having many lunches with friends! I avoided marriage and children-cats are much easier!
I have stayed in touch since school with Angela Hickin and Fiona Rendle from my year and Kim Smith from the year above me. I've also run into Colin Decker (2 years above me) when I was in an operatic society with his wife. More recently I have caught up again with Alison Wise and am part of the 1975-82 group that Scott Galvin created on Facebook to organise mini reunions. I also meet up with Andy and Jo Leech (Kitchin) a couple of times a year. Alison and I have met up with Nadja Jones a couple of times when she has been over from her home in America.
I dabble in amdram and have been on stage with another ex BGS pupil, Jackie Pye (2 or 3 years below me) and also the son of ex BGS teachers Pete Spall and June Clayton so I bump into Pete from time to time.
My other claim to fame is appearing on tv quizzes- 3 so far. Great fun!

On leaving BGS part-way through my A level studies, lured away by the prospect of earning money, I worked in freight forwarding until leaving work to have my children (1992, 1994, 1998). In 1994 I began studying with the Open University. I worked from home for a while and then returned to full time work in 2007 working at the University of Kent, where I still work as Student Support & Wellbeing Manager for the Medway campus. I achieved a BA in Humanities with English Language through the OU in 2000 and had caught the study bug (perhaps the one that I missed when I was at school!). I went on to complete further studies with the OU - Master of Education in 2002 and BSc in Psychology in 2009. In 2017 I took advantage of free study in my workplace and completed a MA in Higher Education. A sucker for punishment, I am now back studying at the OU, in the 2nd year of a Doctorate in Education, with my research looking at the experiences of transgender students in higher education. I have promised myself I will stop once I have completed this (but I think I have said this every time). It's great to see some of my BGS peers in Facebook posts and I look forward to catching up with more on this website. Happy memories.

Life has been good. I never wanted to go to Uni as I had no particular career path in mind and I don't regret my choice at all; I worked in some interesting places and never felt the need to stay somewhere I didn't enjoy. Despite being terrible at languages at BGS I now live in Cadiz in Spain with my husband and I get by OK in spanish. I now finally understand how to decline verbs.
My sister, Diane (known as Bink) also was at BGS a couple of years before me.
